Hives

Hives, medically called Urticaria, is a series of itchy or painful red bumps which appear on the skin from hypersensitivity to foods, insect bites or medications. Hives vary in size and can group into larger plaques on the skin. Hives can persist for weeks, but usually resolve. Additional symptoms include throat tightening and difficulty breathing. Patients should call 911 or visit the emergency room if these symptoms occur.

We treat hives by identifying the reaction’s cause and using antihistamines, biologics or oral medications.
