IMPETIGO

Impetigo is a highly contagious, superficial skin infection (usually staph or strep) which affects children through skin openings. Impetigo presents as red sores which burst open and crust over with a honey color around the mouth, hands or feet. Impetigo bacteria is spread through clothing, towels, toys or other unsanitary items.

Impetigo is treated with antibacterial soaps and topical antibiotics, such as Mupirocin. To remove the carrier’s state, the mouth area and nostrils should also be treated.
